Football Ontario Excellence Program

Mission Statement

Recognition of athletes who have excelled both academically in the search for education, and athletically in their search for excellence on the football field.

Eligibility:

  • All players from the ages of 12 to 19 as of June 1st, 2000, who are members in good standing with Football Ontario, are welcomed to participate.


Criteria:

Academics:

  • To be eligible for the Excellence program each candidate must provide a transcript of his marks. The overall percentage minimum accepted mark would be a "B" average. (Ontario Scholastic Grading).

  • Marks apply to all levels.

Athletics:

  • The athletic ability of each player will be determined at combines, training camps and actual game performances.

  • A panel of their coaches will review all of these issues, with the final decision made by Football Ontario.


Levels:

Excellence (Graduate):

  • 50 top athletes: Two per position and two from kicking.

  • Must be in your final year of high school within the playing year to participate at this level.

Excellence (Pre Graduate)

  • 50 top athletes: Two per position and two from kicking.

  • Must be graduating either from grade 10 or 11within the playing year to participate at this level.

Excellence (Freshman)

  • 50 top athletes: Two per position and two from kicking.

  • Must play at the bantam or equivalent age (14 to 16), within the playing year.

Excellence (Peewee)

  • 50 top athletes: Two per position and two from kicking.

  • Must play on a Peewee or equivalent aged team (12 to 13), within the playing year.

  • This level will be administered by the local Organizations, who have a minimum of 4 teams at this level. Administration will come under the direction of Football Ontario.
